New economic stimulus package created for rural areas
In economically difficult times it is particularly important to give momentum to rural areas. Minister of Agriculture Niki Berlakovich has mobilised an additional 45 million euro for rural development on European level. Rural Development – A major pillar of agriculture
In October 2007 the European Commission approved the Austrian Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013, the so-called "Green Pact for Austria's Agriculture". Measured against its national territory, Austria profits disproportionately high from the funds allocated to rural development. In the period from 2007 to 2013 Austria will obtain an amount of totally € 3.9 billion from Brussels. As those EU funds have to be doubled from national budgets (of the Federal government and the Provinces), totally € 7.822 billion will be available for rural development during the 2007 - 2013 period. > more about: Rural Development – A major pillar of agriculture
